The International Workshop on the Role of Women in Fisheries Development was held here from July 17 to 21, 1995, with participants coming from 17 countries in the Asia-Pacific region: Bangladesh, Cambodia, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Kiribati, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Tonga.
