    Davao Norte has its mercury woes; this capital town has red tide in its bay. Nine coastal villages, with a population of 55,000, are affected with red tide, said the inter-agency Provincial Red Tide Monitoring Team (PRTMT). Mayor Benito Rabat has banned the harvesting and selling of shellfish.
