    Excerpt
Milkfish pond owners would be relieved to know that an alternative to Brestan, Aquatin and Telustan - the banned organotin pesticides that have been used by fishfarmers to control mund snails in brackishwater ponds- is on its final stages of field trial. The alternative is a metaldehyde formulation (10 percent active ingredient). Dr. Relicardo Coloso, a bio-chemist at the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center-Aquaculture Department (Seafdec-AQD), said that metaldehyde is a highly selective molluscicide.
