    Excerpt
When fully grown, mangroves lining the coastal area of Dumangas town will serve as buffer for extreme weather disturbances such as storm surges and tidal waves. The mangroves were planted on Friday, June 5, World Environment Day. The planting of 100,000 seedings of bakhawan mangroves species in Barangay Bantud- Fabrica, Dumangas town was aimed to drumbeat the Wolrd Environment Day. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 6 spearheaded the planting.
