Three years from now, the experimental fishcages at Tinagong Dagat, off Barangay Silagon, Ajuy town, will have a hatchery, the provincial government's answer to the chronic shortage of bangus fry in Iloilo. It will also supply prawn fry, after technicians discovered that black tiger prawns were unknowingly mixed by suppliers with bangus fingerlings. "The bangus (inside the cages) already weigh 1.5 kilos each and they need three years to become breeders," said Anicero Diamante, an official at the provincial agriculture office in charge of the fishcages.
