UN forum to focus on ocean economy
Excerpt
The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad) will emphasize ocean economy, fisheries and marine environmental protection at its 4th Oceans Forum to be held from April 6 to 8, 2022 in Geneva, Switzerland. The forum promotes a shift to a sustainable ocean economy by facilitating post-Covid-19 recovery and resilience. "It is an opportunity to find solutions for using trade as a tool to protect our ocean and its resources, accelerating the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14's trade-related targets," Unctad said in a statement. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a collection of 17 interlinked global goals designed to be "a blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all" set up in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly. The SDGs are intended to be achieved by 2030.
