    Excerpt
A total of 6,709 fisherfolk in Central Luzon are set to receive fuel subsidy from the Department of Agriculture (DA) even as it launched the first ever Solar Powered Fertigation System (SPFS) in Pampanga. Agriculture Secretary William Dar said that it aims to distribute fuel discount cards by next month to help alleviate the adverse effects of the oil price hike in the global market, adding that they have already distributed fuel subsidies to 500 fisherfolk in Zambales. Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) regional director Wilfredo Cruz, on the other hand, said that the 500 fisherfolk are the initial recipients of the program’s first tranche on Monday in a ceremonial awarding with each beneficiary receiving P3,000 worth of fuel discounts.
