    Excerpt
The government is mulling over more fish imports this year to ensure sufficient supply of the protein-rich commodity and avert price increases in the market following the devastation caused by Typhoon “Odette” (international code name Rai) to the fisheries sector. “This [is] being considered but following the process and it is on,” Agriculture Secretary William D. Dar told the BusinessMirror via SMS when asked if the government is eyeing to import more fish products this year. In a separate statement issued by Dar to the media, Dar said he has given “notice” to the National Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (NFARMC) to convene and evaluate a proposal “to import additional volume of fish” for 2022.
