A Chinese ship reportedly fired a warning shot to scare away a fishing boat near a Chinese-occupied reef in the West Philippine Sea (South China Sea) last week, a fishing boat operator disclosed yesterday. In a phone interview, Pasi Abdulfatah said one of his fishing boats, M/L Shanina, was harassed last Saturday night while fishing near Mischief Reef, one of several reefs being reclaimed by China since 2012. "It was a warning shot meant to scare our boat," said Abdulfatah of his boat which was manned by a number of crewmen led by Baru Jainudin.en
