Warships form the Philippines, US, Japan, and India are conducting a series of naval drills in the South China Sea where a disputed chain of islands, islets, and features are located. The naval drills are far from the disputed Spratly Islands which is being claimed by the Philippines, Cina, Malaysia, Vietnam, Brunei, and Taiwan. The ships are holding naval maneuvers and communication exercises while in transit to Singapore where the second leg of the ASEAN-Plus Defense Ministers Meeting Maritime Security Field Training Exercise are due to be held next week.
