    Excerpt
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) on Tuesday nixed a global study that labeled Philippine rivers as top ocean plastic polluters. DENR Undersecretary for Solid Waste Management and Local Government Units Concerns Benny Antiporda said under the leadership of Secretary Roy A. Cimatu, the agency has long been undertaking various measures and exerted rehabilitation efforts in the different river systems in the country, including the Pasig River. “Again, even prior to the publication of the said study, the DENR has already launched various efforts on environmental protection and conservation under Secretary Roy A. Cimatu’s leadership,” Antiporda said in a news statement.
