A researcher of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) has appealed to coastal communities of Panay Gulf to keep kapis shell breeders undisturbed for two years. Jocelyn Ladja said the year-long off season is strongly recommended by the SEAFDEC Aquaculture Department (AQD) staff following the apparent increase in number of kapis shells larvae and juveniles along Panay Gulf after seeding of breeders and juveniles last year. Ladja said the breeding sites should be declared off-season until mid 2001.en
