The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) recently launched a five-year conservation initiative to boost efforts of protecting marine key biodiversity areas (MKBAs) in the country. The project - Strengthening the Marine Protected Areas to Conserve Marine Key Biodiversity Areas - will establish a more coordinated approach in the conservation efforts in several MKBAs. The DENR aims to improve the management of the local communities in the identified marine protected areas (MPAs).
