Governor Arthur Defensor and officials from the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (Seafdec) had released some 1,500 native catfish fingerlings at Tagum River last September 4, to launch the program to restock the streams and rivers of the whole province with native catfish. The activity was timed during the annual tree planting and site visit to Maasin watershed.
