The Iloilo Provincial Government (IPG) and the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) collaborate to reestablish the native catfish in the farms and rivers of Iloilo. The native catfish (C. macrocephalus) used to be abundant in rice farms but has since disappeared. The disappearance was believed to be use to the introduction to the country of a related species, African catfish (C. batrachus) from Thailand.
