    Excerpt
The famous stretch of this island's white beach s now free from the spread of crown-thorns starfish, which threatens the corals and the tourism industry as well. Fearing an outbreak of the dreaded starfish (Acanthaster planci), Aklan officials asked the help of the aquaculture department of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (Seafdec) in Tigbauan, Iloilo to conduct a survey and recommend measures to arrest the spread of the starfish.
