"Yes, I don't know of any instance in the past that the local government had extended its arm to help and assist our fish producers, particularly the fish pond operators," Leganes Councilor Vicente Arguelles told Daily Informer when asked to comment on the charges of neglect by the Local Government Units (LGU) on fish production. Arguelles, a retired chief of the Budget Office of the University of the Philippines Brackishwater Aquaculture Center (UP-BAC) station in Leganes, said there is no item in the Municipal Government Annual Budget allocating any form of assistance or intervention to the fish producers in the municipality.
