The municipal government of Guimbal, Iloilo has advised the Southeast Asia Fisheries Development Center (Seafdec) to cease from getting water from the Guimbal river starting May 19 this year. In a letter to Dr. Rolando Platon, chief of Seafdec's Aquaculture Department, dated April 19, 1999, Guimbal mayor Richard Garin said Seafdec's continued activity resulted to the lack of water supply for Guimbalanons.
