The Municipality of Guimbal has given the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) in Tigbauan until May 19, 1999 to stop the extraction of water from Guimbal River. In a letter addressed to Rolando Platon, chief of SEAFDEC Aquaculture Department, Guimbal mayor Richard Garin informed the former that SEAFDEC failed to secure a municipal permit or resolution of the town council for the operation of its project since the effectivity of the Local Government Code of 1991.
