    Excerpt
Long-term and short-term research projects are now being undertaken to help solve the problems besetting the local prawn industry. "We have embarked on several projects to address the industry problems, "said Dr. Rolando Platon, chief of the Tigbauan, Iloilo-based Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC AQD) and head of the multi-agency "Oplan Sagip-Sugpo" team. Platon discussed the problems saddling the prawn industry and what is being done to save it during the National Prawn Industry Congress held recently in Iloilo City.
