Those fearing the extinction of the luscious catfish (hito) need not worry anymore. This popular fish, scientifically named Clarias macrocephalus, can now be induced to spawn in captivity. A scientific technique for this has been developed by the government-hosted Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center's Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC-AQD) based in Tigbauan, Iloilo.
