    Excerpt
Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Roy A. Cimatu announced the first steps in recovering portions of the Marikina River that, he said, were “illegally reclaimed.” Cimatu said members of a Task Force “Build Back Better” (TF BBB) will begin dredging activities in Marikina River on Wednesday. The announcement was made after the chief of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and TF BBB chairman confirmed that portions of the river have been illegally reclaimed, reducing drastically the ability of the waterway to contain excess rainwater during typhoons.
