BFAR to give importance to 'halal' industry
Excerpt
The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in Region XII, which is based in General Santos City, is looking forward to a reinforced halal industry in the country in accordance with economic policy of the Aquino government. Regional Director Sani Maca-balang on Wednesday expressed his deep concern with the ongoing exports of fish and other fishery products to Muslim countries. However, he wanted to advance the implementation of halal regulations, especially in business dealing with Muslim countries, by seeking inter-agency support. “The BFAR Region XII is resolute in advancing the implementation of halal regulations and development as a great potential for economic growth,” Macabalang said.
