The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) will implement a five-month ban against fishing for sardine fish, Tamban, in the waters of Zamboanga peninsula, Sulu, Basilan and Tawi-Tawi starting in November, a senior official said on Monday. BFAR Regional Director Pedling Munap said the ban, which was intended to allow the Tamban to breed and multiply during its spawning season, will cover most of western Mindanao and parts of the Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao. “The spawning season lasts from four to five months,” Munap said.en
